Teen Programs & Events
Here are the updated Teen Programs for the Month of May!
We have Teen Events on Fridays from 6-8pm. Read below to learn more about what you can expect each month.
Teen Tabletop - Every 1st and 3rd Friday, May 1st and 15th

Tabletop RPGs for teens. Play classic games like D&D with some modern boardgames sprinkled in for good measure. Please contact Lindsey to join a group!
Teen Game Night - 2nd Friday of the Month, May 8th

Teen Game Night is a fun time to hang with friends! We will set up our Nintendo Switch, pull out all our board games, get out snacks and treats, and have some fun. This event is after hours so we can make noise, play games, and eat our snacks without disturbing the rest of the library.
You must be between the ages of 12 and 19 to join us for this event.
Movie Night & Braclets - May 22nd
The Teen Library Council planned a movie night! Come join us as we watch an action-packed, visually stunning adventure with fierce friendships, untamed wolf magic, and fun folklore. We will also be making themed friendship bracelets.
Teen Library Council - May 29th
Every LAST Friday from 4:30pm-5:30pm. We are still looking for awesome high schoolers (ages 14-18) to fill out our Teen Library Council. The council meets once a month to help plan activities for young adults at our library. Each of these meetings counts as volunteer hours and looks great on a resume!
Middle Grade Book Club
Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13) meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. It always includes a simple activity relating to the story.
We will meet at the library on 5/5 at 4pm to chat about "Wildfire".
Our next book is "Will's Race For Home" by Jewell Parker Rhodes. We will talk about adventurous historical fiction book on 6/2.
Read more about this book here:

It’s 1889, barely twenty-five years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and a young Black family is tired of working on land they don’t get to own.
So when Will and his father hear about an upcoming land rush, they set out on a journey from Texas to Oklahoma, racing thousands of others to the place where land is free—if they can get to it fast enough. But the journey isn’t easy—the terrain is rough, the bandits are brutal, and every interaction carries a heavy undercurrent of danger.
And then there’s the stranger they encounter and befriend: a mysterious soldier named Caesar, whose Union emblem brings more attention—and more trouble—than any of them need.
All three are propelled by the promise of something long denied to them: freedom, land ownership, and a place to call home—but is a strong will enough to get them there?
High School Book Club
High School Book Club will start in July and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 4-5pm. We will read "I'll Be the One" by Lyla Lee". Our first meeting will be July 14th.
Here's more about the book from the publisher:

Skye Shin has heard it all. Fat girls shouldn’t dance. Wear bright colors. Shouldn’t call attention to themselves. But Skye dreams of joining the glittering world of K-Pop, and to do that, she’s about to break all the rules that society, the media, and even her own mother, have set for girls like her.
She’ll challenge thousands of other performers in an internationally televised competition looking for the next K-pop star, and she’ll do it better than anyone else.
When Skye nails her audition, she’s immediately swept into a whirlwind of countless practices, shocking performances, and the drama that comes with reality TV. What she doesn’t count on are the highly fat-phobic beauty standards of the Korean pop entertainment industry, her sudden media fame and scrutiny, or the sparks that soon fly with her fellow competitor, Henry Cho.
But Skye has her sights on becoming the world’s first plus-sized K-pop star, and that means winning the competition—without losing herself.
