November at the Creswell Library – Family Newsletter

What’s New in November?

I have some big news to share this month. Lindsey Quigley-Johnson, whom you may have met over the summer, is our new youth librarian! Lindsey is a talented musician and vocalist, so be prepared for some impressive Storytimes! She is also very passionate about early literacy, community outreach, and working with teens. She is full of energy and enthusiasm and is going to be a great resource for our community. Stop by and say hi or look for her at our next Lego Club, Storytime, or any other youth event at the library.

As for me, Nick, I’m sad to be stepping away from the youth librarian position. I had a blast working with you and your children over the past seven years. I made friends with astounding artists, chess masters, and book lovers of all ages. I played with so, so many Legos and watched masterpieces form brick by brick, got destroyed in Super Smash, read with OBOBers, book clubbed with the best, got hit with more than a few water balloons, and even baked cookies, pies, and cakes with you. Thank you for all those fun memories! However, I’m proud to say I’m not leaving the Creswell community. I will now serve as the Library Director. You can come visit me on the other side of the library any time!

With that said, I’ll turn you over the Lindsey.

Happy Reading!

-Nick

PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes in the park! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short.

Babytime   Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.

October Reads for November Book Club

May contain: poster and advertisement

Book Club for Kids will meet to chat about "I Survived the California Wildfires, 2018" on 11/2 at 4pm via Zoom. Our next book is "Winterhouse". We will chat about this fun read on 12/7 at 4pm. Read more about the book from the publisher.

"Orphan Elizabeth Somers’s malevolent aunt and uncle ship her off to the ominous Winterhouse Hotel, owned by the peculiar Norbridge Falls. Upon arrival, Elizabeth quickly discovers that Winterhouse has many charms―most notably its massive library. It’s not long before she locates a magical book of puzzles that will unlock a mystery involving Norbridge and his sinister family. But the deeper she delves into the hotel’s secrets, the more Elizabeth starts to realize that she is somehow connected to Winterhouse. As fate would have it, Elizabeth is the only person who can break the hotel’s curse and solve the mystery. But will it be at the cost of losing the people she has come to care for, and even Winterhouse itself?"

Middle School Book Club will be taking a short break for the start of the school year and plan to start back again soon!
