May Reads for June Book Clubs
Our Book Club for Kids will meet to chat about Katie the Catsitter by Colleen AF Venable on 5/4 at 4pm. Our next book is The Losers Club by Andrew Clements. We will meet to chat about it on 6/1 at 4pm. Here is a bit more about The Losers Club from the publisher.
"Sixth grader Alec can’t put a good book down.
So when Principal Vance lays down the law—pay attention in class, or else—Alec takes action. He can’t lose all his reading time, so he starts a club. A club he intends to be the only member of. After all, reading isn’t a team sport, and no one would want to join something called the Losers Club, right? But as more and more kids find their way to Alec’s club—including his ex-friend turned bully and the girl Alec is maybe starting to like—Alec notices something. Real life might be messier than his favorite books, but it’s just as interesting."
Our Middle School Book Club will meet to talk about Death by Toilet Paper by Donna Gephart on 5/11 at 3:30pm. Our next book is Dead Weight: Murder at Camp Bloom by Molly Muldoon and Terry Blas. We will chat about this graphic novel on 6/8 at 3:30pm. Here is a little more about the book from the publisher.
"Deep in the Oregon wilderness sits Camp Bloom, a weight-loss camp where "overweight" teens can "get in shape." Jesse would rather be anywhere else, but her parents are forcing her to go. Noah isn't sure if he wants to be there, but it's too late to turn back. Tony is heartbroken at the thought of giving up his phone and internet. And Kate... well, she likes the hikes, at least. As far as these four teens are concerned, it's just another boring summer.
Until one night, when Jesse and Noah witness a beloved counselor's murder. The body's gone by the next morning, but a blurry photo leads to one clue—the murderer is one of the camp's staff members!
But which one? As Jesse, Noah, Kate, and Tony investigate, they quickly discover that everyone's got their secrets... and one of them would kill to keep theirs hidden."
We are targeting June for a return to in-person Storytimes. For May, all of our Storytimes will continue to be hosted virtually via Zoom.
