March - Kids and Families at the Creswell Library

Hello!

Sorry, this didn't make it to you before March began but we were working out a few new programs that caused us a delay. However, we have an exciting program coming up this month! We will be hosting a virtual author visit: Roseanne Parry the author of A Wolf Called Wander!  We will be partnering with the Eugene Public Library, Springfield Public Library, Cottage Grove Public Library, and Fern Ridge Public Library to bring this program to all of our communities. The author talk will be on Saturday, March 20th at 3:00 pm via Zoom. We will send out a link once we have one to share!

May contain: person, human, dining table, furniture, and table

Our first family baking program was so much fun! We made some delicious yellow cupcakes and had a great time baking together. This month we will be making Cheesecake Bars. You may be wondering why we won't be making banana chocolate chip muffins. Well, the answer is that I couldn't find a good way to get everyone the bananas they would need at the ripeness that is needed to make delicious muffins. If you already signed up, please fill out the form again to get the extra baking ingredients (if you want them). If you didn't sign up before, you can do so now and join us on March 19th at 4pm. Here is the link https://forms.gle/F3jDLTepyiHxxAf18

Book cover The Sand Warrior

We are going to be ending Nick Reads and replacing it with a Book Club for kids! March will be the final month for Nick Reads. We are going to start with a spectacular graphic novel called Five Worlds: The Sand Warrior. The story can be summed up pretty simply as Star Wars meets Avatar: The Last Airbender. Sign up here and then join us on Wednesday, April 7th at 5 pm to chat about the book! https://forms.gle/dmCK7EsEdCm4Apv6A

May contain: animal

We will also start distributing our next Museum of Natural and Cultural History activity kits in mid-March. These will be on a first-come, first-serve basis as we will only have a limited number to distribute.  This kit is all about Dinosaurs and is called Oregon's Dino-story. Look out for an announcement when they are ready to be picked up!

Finally, don't forget about our weekly Storytimes for kids. Currently, both storytimes are hosted via Zoom. You will need a password to join. Send an email to nick@creswell-library.org to get that password!

Babytime is for kids ages 0-3 and lasts about 20 minutes. We read a few books, sing songs, do lap bounces, and fingerplays. It is a lot of fun and a wonderful way to help little minds grow.

Pre-K storytime is for our 3-5 kids and has longer books with more complex songs. This Storytime lasts for 30 minutes.
