April 2021 Kids and Families

Hello families!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice turn in the weather over the last couple of days. We’ve got a few changes to the normal library schedule this month so please take a look at our calendar below!

May contain: text, poster, advertisement, menu, flyer, paper, and brochure

Our first Book Club for Kids will meet this month on April 7th at 5pm. You can still sign up and join us to read the Sci-Fi and Fantasy graphic novel The Sand Warrior. You can also join us in May! We will be reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary in honor of her life and contributions to children’s literature and libraries. Email nick@creswell-library.org to sign up!

The Middle School Book Club will also have its first meeting on April 13th at 5pm. There is still plenty of time to read Restart by Gordon Korman before our first meeting. Join us in May when we discuss Brandon Sanderson’s Steelheart. Steelheart is an OBOB book (6-8 division) for the 2021-2022 school year. The book is set in a future where people gain superpowers. Unfortunately, villains have come to dominate the world. David seeks revenge for the murder of his father but will he be able to take down one of the strongest supervillains? Email nick@creswell-library.org to sign up!

We are also partnering with the Chronicle this year for their annual art contest! Stop by the library during our normal pick-up times (Monday and Friday from 12pm – 6pm and Wednesday from 11am – 7pm) to get the coloring contest and a box of crayons! Be sure to turn your coloring pages in to the Chronicle by April 22nd for a chance to win! These will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

May contain: person, human, wood, plywood, and appliance

We have been having such a good time at our baking programs! In March we made Cheesecake Bites. My family loved those little treats! Our next Family Baking project will be our first savory bake, quick cheese bread! Even if you have signed up for the baking program in the past, please sign up again. This helps me track the ingredients that I need to purchase for everyone to be able to participate. Here is the link to sign up.

The Zoom meeting for this event will be on April 30th at 4pm. Remember, you don’t need to join us for the Zoom meeting to participate. You are free to pick up the ingredients and bake at home on your own time. Ingredient kits will be ready at least one week in advance.

Finally, I (Nick) will be out for medical reasons two Friday’s this month. There will be no youth events (Teen Tabletop and Storytime) on Friday, April 9th and Friday, April 23rd. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
