Summer Reading Program 2023

We are so excited to have you join us for SRP 2023! This year we will spend lots of time hanging out at Holt Park, eating ice cream, and launching rockets. We also have some very exciting guests joining us throughout the summer. Check out our schedule of events below! Make sure to sign up and get your free book! Remember, you don't need to sign up to come to our events.

June 28, 11-noon, Creswell Middle School - The Oregon Reptile Man

Come see 15 amazing reptiles including large lizards, an alligator, a snapping turtle, a de-venomized rattlesnake, and more!

July 5, 11-noon, Holt Park - Stomp Rockets

Decorate, assemble, and launch your own rocket. How high will yours fly?

July 12th, 11-noon, Holt Park - Instrument Petting Zoo presented by the Eugene Symphony

Come try out a variety of orchestral instruments.

July 19th,  11-noon, Holt Park - Slime Time

It’s time for slime!  We will have everything you need to make your slime and safely get it back home.

July 26, 11-noon, Holt Park - Magician and Comedian Jay Frasier

Jay combines sleight-of-hand, physical comedy, and audience participation to create magical and entertaining performances. Please bring a blanket to sit on for the show!

August 2, 11-noon, Holt Park - Tie-Dye Day

Time for some more color fun! Please bring a white t-shirt to dye. We will not have t-shirts for everyone to use so please bring your own. This event can get pretty messy. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing.

August 9, Wednesday, 11-noon, Holt Park - Dragon Theater Puppets Presents: Dungeons and Decisions

Join us for this fun interactive Puppet Show where the audience chooses the adventure! Please bring a blanket to sit on for the show!

August 16, 11-noon, Holt Park - Make Your Own Ice Cream

Kick the can ice cream! Make your own ice cream in a paint can. Pick your flavor, get your milk and sugar, and get to kicking!

August 23, 11-noon, Holt Park - UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History: Oregon Rocks

Take off on a geology adventure to explore our ever-changing planet Earth. Dig deep into rocks, fossils, earthquakes and volcanoes with fun, hands-on activities and rockin’ specimens!


Registering for Summer Reading is super easy! Either drop by the library and fill out a paper form or use this link to sign up online:

After you have done one of those two things drop by the library and pick up your free book! There are book carts located in the back of the children's section where you can select your free book. Ask us for help if you get lost.

Tracking your reading!

You can begin tracking your reading starting June 27th. You can track your reading by picking up journals from the library (available June 27th) or you can print out journals at home found here:

What are library dollars?

Library dollars are earned for reading 5 hours (ages 7-18) or by completing 10 early literacy activities (ages 0-6). You can use these dollars to buy prizes from the library!
