What's new in September? 

Dolly Parton Party

Celebrate Dolly Parton on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM! Honor the music legend and champion of literacy, the visionary behind the Imagination Library, with an afternoon of fun activities designed for all ages. We will have sparkly diamond painting butterflies, music, snacks, and face painting! 

The Teen Library Council planned this event; one of the members credited Dolly and the Imagination Library for the reason they are a reader. 

Thursdays for Kids

We have four events for kids this month!

9/3at 3:30pm - Tape Resist Art

Create something unique using tape and watercolors.

9/10 at 3:30 pm - LEGO Club

Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.

9/17 at 3:30 pm - Full Steam Ahead! - Popsicle Stick Catapults

Build your own catapult using common household items! Follow the simple design steps to construct your launcher, then test your creation with exciting challenges. You can also experiment with modifications to customize your design and boost its power.

9/24 at 3:30 pm - Melty Beads

Bring your own design or use one of our templates. Gather your beads, place them on the board, and watch your creation melt into a masterpiece!

PreK Storytime  – Thursdays at 10:00am

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool, but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun, but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft. 

Babytime  – Tuesdays at 10:00am 

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littles get too squirmy.

Book Club

Middle School Book Club

Middle School Book Club (6th-8th Grade) meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. 

We will meet at the library on 9/1 to chat about A Perfect Mistake.

Our next book is Wires Crossed by Beth Fantaskey, Illustrated by ONeillJones.

Is this what middle school is all about? Being stuck in the middle? Twelve-year-old Mia feels like everything and everyone is changing—and she is caught in the middle. Stuck between old friends and new friends...between feeling like a kid and growing up...

Just as her longtime bff Addy is gravitating towards the popular crowd and starting to care more about school dances than treehouse playdates, Mia finds out that her favorite science camp friend, Tariq, is moving to town and will be going to school with her. She's super excited and can't wait to show him around and help him make friends.

But when Tariq arrives in town, he seems like he's grown up a lot, too. No more braces or glasses. A new hair cut. And who knew he was also a soccer star, immediately making the team mid-season?? He's welcomed to Buttonwood Bay Middle School with open arms in a way that Mia can't even recognize, and now she's feeling more lost than ever.

Then her science teacher announces the school's science olympics and she and Tariq are teaming up again to crush the competition—just like at camp. Only this time they're joined by a couple of unconventional teammates in Kinsey (more artist than scientist) and the loveable, if also sometimes kind of gross and goofy, Evan.

Do Mia and Tariq still have enough of a spark to build a killer robot (figuratively speaking, of course) and take home the prize? Through much experimentation and a little trail and error, Mia navigates new friendships and old as she tries to find her place in middle school—and on the winner's podium.
