What's new in October?

Make sure you drop by the library on October 31st for a sweet treat! We will be open during our normal hours from 10am to 6pm.

Thursdays for Kids

We have five events for kids this month!

10/1 at 3:30pm - BINGO!

A green bingo card with the word "Bingo" at the top and some filled circles indicating marked numbers.

Get ready to yell 'BINGO!'  Join us for some friendly competition and win small prizes.

10/8 at 3:30pm - LEGO Club

Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.

10/15 at 3:30pm - Full Steam Ahead! - Cardboard Construction: Make a Monster

A cardboard box with a jagged opening and blue buttons, resembling a friendly monster, surrounded by colorful play items.

Use our specialized, safe saws, screwdrivers, and perforators to create your own monster to display on our library shelves for the rest of the month.

10/22 at 3:30pm - Unbound and Upcycled: Bookmark Making

A colorful bookmark featuring cartoon characters expressing excitement and joy, with text saying "That... was... AWESOME!!" and "and it was so fun!"

Have you ever wondered what the library does with old books that are falling apart? Turn them into crafts, of course! Use Dogman & Catkid, Plants & Zombies, Piggie & Gerald, and more to create a unique bookmark full of memorable characters and artwork.

10/29 at 3:30pm - Pumpkin Painting

We’ve got the pumpkins, the paint, and the carrying trays ready to go. All you need to bring is your family's imagination! Come create a festive masterpiece with us.

PreK Storytime  – Thursdays at 10:00am

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool, but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun, but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.

Babytime  – Tuesdays at 10:00am

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littles get too squirmy.

Book Club

Middle School Book Club

Middle School Book Club (6th-8th Grade) meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes.

We will meet at the library on 10/6 to chat about Cartoonist's Club.

Our next book is Wildwood by Colin Meloy. This book has been made into a movie by Laika Studios and premieres October 23rd. Laika Studios is located in Hillsboro, Oregon, and has made two other featured films based on books: Coraline and The Boxtrolls.

We will meet at 4pm on 11/3 to chat about Wildwood.

For fans of The Chronicles of Narnia comes the first book in the Wildwood Chronicles, the New York Times bestselling fantasy adventure series by Colin Meloy, lead singer of the Decemberists, and Carson Ellis, acclaimed illustrator of The Mysterious Benedict Society.

Wildwood captivates readers with the wonder and thrill of a secret world within the landscape of a modern city. It feels at once firmly steeped in the classics of children's literature and completely fresh. The story is told from multiple points of view, and the book features more than eighty illustrations, including six full-color plates, making this an absolutely gorgeous object.

In Wildwood, Prue and her friend Curtis uncover a secret world in the midst of violent upheaval—a world full of warring creatures, peaceable mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions. And what begins as a rescue mission becomes something much greater as the two friends find themselves entwined in a struggle for the very freedom of this wilderness. A wilderness the locals call Wildwood.
