November at the Creswell Library Family Newsletter

What’s New in November?

Hello everyone!

We hope you enjoyed Board Game Adventures last month! In addition to some fun and new board games, we are offering Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) to kids who are interested in playing. We will have around 6 slots available for interested kiddos, and a patient Dungeon Master (the adult who runs the game) who will help kids learn and have fun. Because the game can be a little complex, the suggested age for this game is 8 and up. Dungeons & Dragons is a game that is focused on collaboration and strategy and helps kids strengthen social skills.

On November 15th at 6:30pm, we have a fun event for all ages! We will have One More Time Marching Band providing music for this event, and we will have Melty Beads available for curious crafters. Plus, you can shop for books during our Booksale and eat some snacks. We hope you will join us for this lively event!

Thursdays for Kids

We have three events this month for kids! Just a reminder, the Library is CLOSED on Thanksgiving (11/28).

11/7 at 3:30pm -  Board Game Adventures

A flyer for "Board Game Adventures" for kids 5-11, every 1st Thursday at 3:30pm, with pixelated game graphics.

Each month, come play cooperative and competitive board games! This is the perfect time to bring some friends and make new ones. There will be plenty of new games to choose from, but you can always bring your favorites from home. Plus, we will have a D&D table (ages 8 and up).

11/14 at 3:30pm -  LEGO Club

A bright banner for a LEGO club meeting every 2nd Thursday for ages 5-12, at 3:30 pm with colorful brick background.

Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.

11/21 at 3:30pm – Full STEAM Ahead! - Make a Parade Float

Colorful graphic promoting a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) event for kids aged 5-11, every third Thursday at 3:30 PM.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! This month, we are making floats for the library's "Thanksgiving Parade".

PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.

Babytime   Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.

Middle-Grade Book Club

Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13) meets the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. It always includes a simple activity relating to the story.

We will meet at the library on 11/5  at 4pm to chat about "Lowriders in Space".

Our next book is "The Mystwick School of Musicraft" by Jessica Khoury. We will talk about this OBOB book on 12/3 at 4:00pm. Here is a quick blurb about this book from the publisher.

Illustrated book cover: "The Mystwick School of Musicraft" with two characters, musical notes, and a magical school.

Amelia Jones always dreamed of attending the Mystwick School of Musicraft, where the world’s most promising musicians learn to create magic. So when Amelia botches her audition, she thinks her dream has met an abrupt and humiliating end—until the school agrees to give her a trial period. Amelia is determined to prove herself, vowing to do whatever it takes to become the perfect musician. Even if it means pretending to be someone she isn’t. Meanwhile, a mysterious storm is brewing that no one, not even the maestros at Mystwick, is prepared to contain. Can Amelia find the courage to be true to herself in time to save her beloved school from certain destruction?
