December at the Creswell Library Family Newsletter
What’s New in December?
Hello everyone!
December 14th, is the Creswell Winter Lights event! The Library will be hosting stories with Mrs. Claus and a fun craft from 1-3pm! Wait...does she look familiar?
The Library will be CLOSED on December 25th.
There is NO Storytime on December 26th.
Thursdays for Kids
We have three events this month for kids!
12/5 at 3:30pm - Board Game Adventures
Each month, come play cooperative and competitive board games! This is the perfect time to bring some friends and make new ones. There will be plenty of new games to choose from, but you can always bring your favorites from home. Plus, we will have a D&D table (ages 8 and up). There is a limit to the number of kids who can do D&D, so kids who have signed up beforehand and are consistent will be reserved a spot.
12/12 at 3:30pm - LEGO Club
Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.
12/19 at 3:30pm – Full STEAM Ahead! - Cookie House Construction
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! Graham Cracker houses are back! Join us for an hour of tasty cookie construction! This event will be in the activity room (kitchen).
PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library
Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.
There will be NO STORYTIME on December 26th.
Babytime – Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library
Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.
December Reads for January Book Club
Middle-Grade Book Club
Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13) meets the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. It always includes a simple activity relating to the story.
We will meet at the library on 12/3 at 4pm to chat about "The Mystwick School of Musicraft".
Our next book is "The Inquisitor’s Tale, Or, The Three Magic Children and Their Holy Dog" by Adam Gidwitz. We will talk about this OBOB book on 1/7 at 4:00pm. Here is a quick blurb about this book from the publisher.
1242. On a dark night, travelers from across France cross paths at an inn and begin to tell stories of three children. Their adventures take them on a chase through France: they are taken captive by knights, sit alongside a king, and save the land from a farting dragon. On the run to escape prejudice and persecution and save precious and holy texts from being burned, their quest drives them forward to a final showdown at Mont Saint-Michel, where all will come to question if these children can perform the miracles of saints.
Join William, an oblate on a mission from his monastery; Jacob, a Jewish boy who has fled his burning village; and Jeanne, a peasant girl who hides her prophetic visions. They are accompanied by Jeanne's loyal greyhound, Gwenforte . . . recently brought back from the dead. Told in multiple voices, in a style reminiscent of The Canterbury Tales, our narrator collects their stories and the saga of these three unlikely allies begins to come together.
