December at the Creswell Library - Family Newsletter
What’s New in December?
Celebrate Holidays around the World! Each week, there will be two stations featuring STEAM activities based on fun holiday traditions. We will be learning about festivities centered around Christmas, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Hannukah, and more. I won't spoil all the fun, but this first week involves cup stacking and origami... New stations are set up every Friday!
To celebrate 2023 Creswell's Winter Lights, kids can drop by the library on 12/9 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and enjoy stories read by Mrs. Claus (who looks suspiciously like our Youth Librarian) and listen while they make a craft! The Creswell Library will also be in the parade!
We are also bringing back Graham Cracker Houses! on Friday the 22nd, join us at 3:30pm and make an edible house using icing, graham crackers, candy, and imagination. Yummmmmmmm

PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library
Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.
Babytime – Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library
Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.
Pajamarama Storytime – December 26th at 6:15pm
Come dressed in your pajamas and bring your stuffies for this storytime. This storytime is a fun event for all ages and will have songs, rhymes, and picture books.
December Reads for January's Book Club
Middle Grade Book Club
We're trying something new! We are combining our Book Club for Kids and Middle School Book Club into our Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13). We also have our YA Book Club (13+).
We will meet at the library on 1/2 at 4:00pm to discuss the graphic novel "A Whole New Ballgame" by Phil Bildner. Middle Grade Book Club goes for 45 minutes and includes snacks. Here is a quick blurb about this book from the publisher.
Rip and Red are best friends whose fifth-grade year is nothing like what they expected. They have an eccentric new tattooed teacher named Mr. Acevedo, who doesn't believe in tests or homework and who likes off-the-wall projects, the more "off" the better. And guess who's also their new basketball coach? Mr. Acevedo! Easy-going Rip is knocked completely out of his comfort zone. And for Red, who has autism and really needs things to be exactly a certain way, the changes are even more of a struggle. But together these two make a great duo who know how to help each other―and find ways to make a difference―in the classroom and on the court.
If you are interested in joining a Book Club, please email lindsey@creswell-library.org. If you have any concerns with the schedule, please let me know.
