April at the Creswell Library - Family Newsletter

What’s New in April?

Hey everyone! I'm sorry this is coming to you so late. I've been sick over the last two weeks and have been meaning to get this to you.

Are you gearing up for the Summer Reading Program? Signups will start sometime next month. Check out the Summer Reading Program page for a sneak peak and more information.

Thursdays for Kids

We have three events this month for kids.

4/4 at 3:30pm – Pin It! Make Your Own Buttons – We have a button maker! Using markers and colored pencils, come design your own pins that you can wear. We will be doing this event again next month on May 23rd.

4/11 at 3:30pm – LEGO Club – Join us for LEGO building awesomeness! Each child who completes a project will get to put it on display in the library until the next LEGO Club.

4/18 at 3:30pm – Full STEAM Ahead! - Straw Bridge -  Who says you can't make something strong out of straws? Using straws, paper, and tape, try to engineer a bridge! For an extra challenge, see how much weight it can withstand.

PreK Storytime - Thursdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us for fun books, songs, and rhymes!! This storytime is intended for children in preschool but all kids and their families are welcome to join. We shoot for about 30 minutes of fun but sometimes we go a little long and sometimes just a tad short. Afterward, we will all do a fun craft.

Babytime   Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Creswell Library

Join us on Tuesdays for songs, fingerplays, lap bounces, scarves, egg shakers, stories, and bubbles! This storytime is 20 minutes long so we can wrap up before the littlest get too squirmy.

April Reads for May Book Club

Middle Grade Book Club

Middle Grade Book Club (ages 10-13) meets the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm and goes for about 45 minutes. It always includes a simple activity relating to the story.

We will meet at the library on 4/2 at 4pm to chat about "Full Cicada Moon. Our next book is "Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel" adapted by Mariah Mardsen. We will talk about this graphic novel on 5/7 at 4:00pm. Here is a quick blurb about this book from the publisher.

Schoolyard rivalries. Baking disasters. Puffed sleeves. Explore the violet vales and glorious green of Avonlea in this spirited graphic novel adaptation.
When Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan who can help manage their family farm, they have no idea what delightful trouble awaits them. With flame-red hair and an unstoppable imagination, 11-year-old Anne Shirley takes Green Gables by storm.
Anne’s misadventures bring a little romance to the lives of everyone she meets: her bosom friend, Diana Barry; the town gossip, Mrs. Lynde; and that infuriating tease, Gilbert Blythe. From triumphs and thrills to the depths of despair, Anne turns each everyday moment into something extraordinary.
